Mission
At Our Lady of Mercy College, Burraneer we name as our Mission the following priorities:
We believe that the charism of Catherine McAuley is a dynamic and evolving source of spiritual inspiration for us on the journey of life as we search for purpose, meaning and fulfilment, and seek to give active expression to our Christian faith in the contemporary world.
We believe that we should encourage our students to actively engage in the learning process. We challenge them to pursue personal excellence and provide opportunities for them to learn, grow and develop in body, mind and spirit. We encourage them to develop the ability to learn from mistakes and deal productively with success and perceptions of failure.
We believe that educating and forming the young to take their place in society is a sacred task requiring of teachers a profound respect for the dignity of students, a keen understanding of the dynamic and evolving nature of education and an active willingness to implement contemporary pedagogical approaches in the teaching and learning process.
We believe that through succession planning and implementation of protocols we ensure the culture of our College is conducive to the enhancement and support of staff as professionals, as life-long learners and as individuals committed to educational change
We believe that providing facilities and resources of the highest possible quality is essential to enhance the cohesive and effective provision of educational opportunity.
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and that the overall personal and educational outcomes for students can be optimised by collaboration with the wider community including parents, families, past pupils, parishes, educational and ecclesiastical institutions, the business community and other civic agencies.
We believe that education is a life-long process that needs innovative leadership and management and to be governed by a process of evaluation, review and implement and to equip us to face the challenges of societal and educational needs.
